The Birdsong of Michael Grey

The Birdsong of Michael Grey is a compilation of short stories tracking the life and times of a young man – Michael Grey – as he realises that so many of the characteristics and habits of the birds he loves to watch are reflected in the people closest to him.

Set in and around Hastings, Sussex, in December 1960, this series focuses not just on nature, but also on the fascinating history and folklore of the local area, while exploring the significant social and cultural changes taking place during the 1960s.

The stories delve into the habits and characteristics of many of the birds we love to watch in our gardens and parks, or flying high above our coasts…

As Michael Grey learns more about these birds, his perspective on life begins to change, with the
stories serving as a reminder of the critical relationship between mankind and nature.
