‘How fascinating it would be to step back in time, to see the ancestor of the cormorant take flight across a world that would be unrecognisable. Giant creatures towering over bleak landscapes, diving into vast oceans teaming with types of fish that were now extinct. Millions of years ago there was conflict between one type of creature and another. Each vying for resources. Maybe nothing had changed?’
